status: available for hire
I’m active in the Ruby on Rails community. I’m a semi-regular speaker at the Kansas City Ruby Users Group I attend, which meets at 8700 State Line Road the second Tuesday of every month. I also answer Rails questions frequently on stackoverflow.com, and try to stay up to date on the latest and greatest.
A few years ago, however, I was a Perl developer from Omaha, recently brought down to Kansas City because my “mad perl skillz” were in high demand. Almost as soon as I got here, that all changed when my company became a Ruby on Rails shop. I’m glad that happened right after I was hired, because I love Kansas City, and Ruby on Rails!
Two years ago I left salaried corporate life to work as contract Ruby on Rails developer. My projects are typically 3-6 month launch or rescue operations. I pride myself on writing clean, fully tested code that allows a junior developer to step in and easily maintain. From there, I look for the next big challenge to tackle, and there never seems to be a shortage of interesting work.
